Prairie Capital VI, LP supported Architectural Lighting Works (“ALW”) in its acquisition of v2 Lighting Group (“v2”). The v2 acquisition further strengthens ALW’s position as an industry-leading manufacturer of specification-grade architectural and decorative LED luminaires.

Founded in 2010 and headquartered in San Jose, CA, v2 designs and manufactures modern, high-performance interior and exterior LED luminaires. With a reputation as a leading provider of innovative, highly-configurable cylinders, pendants and sconces, v2’s specification-grade LED fixtures present an attractive complement to ALW’s linear, MoonRing and other decorative designs.

The ALW and v2 combination is expected to be highly complementary and synergistic from a product, geographic, sales & marketing and manufacturing standpoint. With minimal overlap between the two product lines, the acquisition provides a valuable expansion to the architectural and decorative lighting portfolio that ALW offers to architects, specifiers and lighting designers. The geographic proximity of the companies, both headquartered in the Bay Area, will allow for complete integration of the two businesses and provides an opportunity to combine resources, expand capabilities, share best practices and strengthen the overall platform. Furthermore, v2 leadership will join the ALW team as part of the transaction, including v2’s CEO and COO, Chris Varrin and Mitch Dale. Operations are expected to be fully-consolidated under the ALW platform by early 2020.

ALW is an innovative, award-winning designer and manufacturer of architectural LED lighting headquartered in Oakland, CA. With a mission to Illuminate the Soul™, ALW’s luminaires are sold nationwide through a diversified network of over 60 independent lighting agencies, providing made-to-order lighting solutions for a variety of commercial, retail, hospitality, healthcare and education applications. All products are manufactured at ALW’s 110,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art North American production facility constructed in 2018.
